Blackberry Users Hit by E-Mail Delays

Friday, December 18, 2009

TORONTO (AP) -- The company that makes BlackBerry phones says it's trying to find out what caused users in North America to have trouble getting their e-mail yesterday. It's unclear how many users were affected by the outage -- or how long it lasted. But Research In Motion says technicians have been able to pinpoint and fix the problem. During the outage, Blackberry customers were still able to make phone calls, surf the Internet and send and receive text messages -- but couldn't retrieve or send e-mail. The system Blackberrys use is usually reliable. But because it's centralized, if there are problems, they can affect millions of users.
