ESET Launches Beta Program for ESET Remote Administrator 4

Sunday, December 20, 2009

ESET, the leader in proactive threat protection, has announced that ESET Remote Administrator 4 is now available for public beta testing.

ESET Remote Administrator 4 makes it easy to deploy and manage ESET business solutions. Whether a company has 10 workstations or 10,000, ESET Remote Administrator allows for remote management from a single console. It is resource-efficient, scalable and easy to use. Timesaving features such as Active Directory integration, parametric groups, centralized quarantine management, firewall rules merge wizard, parallel remote install and Windows clustering support reduce the man-hours IT teams spend on endpoint security management while increasing their productivity.

Key features include:

  • Active Directory synchronization — Eliminates the need to create duplicate security group structures outside of existing Active Directory and the risk of inconsistency. This feature makes it easy to deploy ESET Business Solutions in large and dispersed networks with complex hierarchies.
  • Parametric groups — Create and update groups dynamically based on selected criteria. These groups can be used in filtering, reports, notifications and policy rules. Administrators can instantly identify problematic or infiltrated nodes, reducing management overhead and time to problem resolution.
  • Centralized quarantine management — Presents a global view of quarantined objects on the clients. Quarantine objects can also be downloaded from the clients for inspection. Tasks can be created to restore or delete quarantined objects based on a selected criteria or exclude them from further scanning, ensuring a consistency in quarantine policy across all endpoints.
  • Firewall rules merge wizard — Simplifies the task of combining firewall rules from multiple clients into one unified set. The merged rules can then be applied to all or specified groups of endpoints using a Configuration task or a policy to ensure consistency and efficiency in firewall rule enforcement.
  • Parallel remote install — Adminstrators no longer have to supervise remote installs as they execute serially. Save time by identifying unregistered endpoints using Active Directory or IP range/mask searches and create tasks to concurrently diagnose or push install to these endpoints.
  • Support for upcoming ESET products — Remotely manage all endpoints running current and previous versions of ESET Smart Security, ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Windows, as well as upcoming releases of ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 for Mac and Linux, and next generation mobile security products.
  • Support for Windows clustering — Improves availability of ESET Remote Administrator Server through failover clustering on Windows Server.
  • Unified schedule interface — All schedulable tasks are now managed from a single interface to improve usability and reduce opportunity for errors and inconsistencies.
  • Windows/Domain login — Users now have the option to authenticate using Windows/Domain credentials instead of ESET Remote Administrator Server credentials, reducing a level credentials that need to be managed.

NOTE: The beta test version is a precursor of the final product. Full functionality and documentation have not yet been implemented. Some system instability may occur; ESET recommends experienced users install Remote Administrator 4 Beta only on machines that do not perform critical tasks.
